Barias tab Tony Mitchell, ex Hurricanes

Tony Mitchell

Club Rafael Barias (TBS) inked 29-year old American 203cm forward Tony Mitchell, college: N.Texas. He moved there from Hurricanes in Colombian LPB league, but was not approved after all. Mitchell also played for Pueblo Nuevo in Dominican Rep. Santiago League where in 12 Copa Federacion games he averaged 13.5ppg, 8.8rpg (#4 in the league), 1.4apg and 1.5bpg this season. Mitchell helped them to win the Dominican Rep. Santiago League title despite they ended the regular season at the second place. A very good year in his career as he was selected to Latinbasket.com All-Dominican Rep. Santiago League 3rd Team and League Player of the Week (2 times).
In 2013 he was drafted by Detroit Pistons (NBA) in second round (37th overall). Mitchell attended University of North Texas and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
Mitchell is a very experienced player. He has quite traveled the world as his pro career brought him to eleven different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Mitchell has played previously professionally in Argentina (Instituto), China (Guangxi), France (Limoges CSP Elite), Israel (Galil Gilboa and Maccabi Haifa), Philippines (Hotshots and NLEX Road Warriors), Puerto Rico (Leones and Atleticos), Taiwan (Fubon Braves), Venezuela (Panteras and Cocodrilos), NBA (Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns), United Arab Emirates (Al Wasl) and Dominican Republic (Metros de Santiago, Quisqueya and Leones de Santo Domingo).
Among many awards He selected to Latinbasket.com All-Venezuelan LPB Defensive Player of the Year back in 2016.
